Having always been a family run business and previously maintained by Steve & Dee for many years, operations are now being taken forward by Viv her team who are committed to maintaining the Kennels to a high standard.
Our primary aim is to treat your Pets with the same love and care and respect as we treat our own Pets.
We like to feel our animals are happy and content during their stay with us and they look forward to returning and meeting up with old friends.
Our Kennels are cleaned to a high standard – hygiene is high on our list of priorities.
24 hour on-site caretaking at Shieldaig our Kennels are never left un-attended.
24 hour Veterinary Care is also provided. We would like to reassure everyone that the Veterinary care here is Spain is excellent, the vets we use all work to a high standard.

With 25 years experience in the health industry and customer care, I am responsible for all operations within the business and will manage your bookings and enquiries. I am professional but approachable and here to ensure you and your pet have the best experience possible.
Janie
Having always worked in the care and education sectors I am here to look after the needs of your pet during their stay. I ensure the linen store and playground are maintained to a high standard
Conne
I have 20 years experience as a veterinary nurse in Holland and ensure the health and welfare needs of your pet are met. I am a keen walker and enjoy engaging in activities and taking photos
Denise
As a previous owner of Shieldaig I am still involved in the quality of care and help to ensure that standards are maintained throughout the service. I support the marketing and social media platforms. My love of animals has seen me rescue and re-home many 100’s over the years and my charity, Doggy Angells also operates from Shieldaig. As a previous owner of Shieldaig I am involved in mentoring and consulting for the business on a day-to-day basis. Still living on the premises I provide caretaking services out of hours and support the Pet Taxi services.

As a seasoned hiker and experienced dog owner I enjoy trail and mountain walks and support the Activities programs at Shieldaig
The Legal Stuff
Shieldaig is a fully licensed kennels & cattery. We are listed in the Valencian Community, Registro de Núcleos Zoológicos, Nº Registro 5571 A-239, dated 11/03/2004.
We are immensely proud to have gained our Núcleos Zoológicos which is a combined Licence / Health & Safety Certificate awarded only to establishments dealing with animals that comply to rules regulations & building standards as set out by the College Veterinary Surgeons & Valencian Government. It took over two years and lots of hard work, we were visited on many occasions by Alicante Veterinary College Inspectors also Town Hall Inspection.
Shieldaig is fully insured with Zurich, policy number 00000119932234, a copy of which is displayed in our office.
